EtOH Fully Automated Ethanol Extraction System

A scalable 20-1000L ethanol platform that washes botanicals with chilled food-grade ethanol and recovers the solvent in a closed loop for clean, full-spectrum extracts.

Description

The Ethanol Extraction System is a scalable, high-throughput platform that uses food-grade ethanol as its working solvent. Configurable from 20 to 1000 litres, it washes the target compounds out of the plant material with chilled ethanol, then recovers the solvent in a closed loop for reuse. Ethanol is a versatile polar solvent, so the same system produces clean, full-spectrum botanical extracts and tinctures across a very wide range of plant material.

Scalable 20-1000 LOne platform sized for pilot batches up to full production.

High ThroughputFast wash cycles and large batches for production output.

Cold ProcessingChilled ethanol limits chlorophyll and wax pickup.

Solvent RecoveryClosed-loop recovery returns ethanol for the next run.

Full SpectrumA polar solvent captures a broad range of compounds.

Food-Grade EthanolA safe, widely available, GRAS-listed solvent.

How it works

Wash with ethanol, recover the solvent

Ethanol extraction is a wash-and-recover process. Chilled food-grade ethanol is passed through the plant material, dissolving the target oils, aromatics and actives. The loaded solvent is then filtered to remove biomass and particulate before the ethanol is evaporated off under vacuum and condensed back to liquid for the next run.

Running the wash cold keeps unwanted chlorophyll and waxes from dissolving, so the extract comes out cleaner and often needs no winterization. Because ethanol is recovered in a closed loop rather than discarded, operating cost per batch stays low even at high volume, and the finished extract is concentrated and ready for formulation or further refinement.

Cold vs warm

Two ways to run it

Cold ethanol run

Temperature-20 to -40 °C
Chlorophyll / waxMinimal pickup
OutputClean, light color
WinterizationOften not needed
Best forPremium aromatics

Warm / ambient run

Temperature0 to 20 °C
Chlorophyll / waxMore pickup
OutputHigher total yield
WinterizationUsually required
Best forMaximum extraction

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Ethanol is a polar liquid solvent washed through the material and then recovered by evaporation, while aerosol extraction uses inert R134a gas at low pressure. Ethanol scales easily and is very versatile, but it does need a solvent-recovery step.

Yes, and the system does it for you. Ethanol is evaporated under vacuum and condensed back to liquid in a closed loop, so most of it is reused each run.

Cold runs down to -40 °C give a cleaner extract with little chlorophyll or wax and often skip winterization. Warmer runs pull more total material but usually need a winterization step afterward.

The system is configurable from 20 to 1000 L, so it can be sized for pilot batches up to full production.

Food-grade ethanol is widely used and GRAS-listed, but it is flammable. The system runs as a closed loop and is available with explosion-proof and ATEX-rated components for compliant installation.

A broad range of botanicals for tinctures, aromatics, oleoresins and full-spectrum extracts, since ethanol dissolves both polar and many non-polar compounds.
